WILL RESPESS RACE IN CALIFORNIA? San Francisco, Cal.,October 15. Presiding Judge Hopper, who is now officiating in the stand at Latonia, has advised Secretary Treat that J. IS. Res-pess, one of the owners of the Latonia track, will try the local game this winter. At the close of the Louisville meeting he will ship ten horses to Emeryville, In charge of Foreman Kerby. Respess has no Dick Welles in his present collection, but his barn always shelters some good horses, and his stable will doubtless be a desirable acquisition to the local racing forces. Judge Hopper also states that John Hall is figuring on shipping his crack sprinter, Gold- proof, and half a dozen other horses to the coast this winter.
