Lady Martha was again In u tangle, had to go wide into the stretch and finished fast and gamely. Paul Ruiuart ran a good race and will Improve Bender was close up for most of the trip. E. T. Shipp, running green, was in a jam most of. the way aud shutllcd back to last place after going a quarter, has worked fast and is evidently a gcod colt. Airship, under good riding, was a forward contender for the first quarter, then took .the lead and, stand iug the final drive gamely, held Devoutsafe through the final sixteenth. Devout began slowly and1 moved up fast through the stretch, but was not good enough to beat the winner. Bert Osra forced the pace In the early stages and held on well in the final drive. Dapple Gold had no mishaps. Minnehaha showed h brief flight of early speed. The others were always outpaced. The winner was entered for 00; no " bid. Harfing, lucky all the way and running to his best form, took the lead quickly and, setting a fast pace in the early stages, shook off Prince Ahmed in the stretch and came away to an easy victory. Prince Ahmed ran forwardly from the start and, although tiring slightly in the stretch, held on well and was best of the others. The Clansman ran a good race and was right there all the way. Light Wool was in close quarters for the first three-quarters, but tired in the stretch run. Polly Prim was almost thrown Wn the first turn, but ran below her best form. MeChord, hard ridden all the Avay, had to do his best to wear Bensonhurst down, but finished gamely aiid came away in the last few strides: Merrick, in close quarters in the last furlong, had to go around and. finishing fast, would probably have Avon Avith clear sailing. Bensohhurst, away fast and "running to .his best form, showed much the most speed nearly all the Avay and saved ground oh all turns, but tired in the last seventy yards. Aiperine ran a good race and camp from a long way back in the stretch. Toboggan began slowlv and ran poorly. Bonebrake ran fairly Avell. The winner, entered for 00, was lild up to ,100 by AV. Joe Moser showed a high llight of early speed, but tired badly after going five furlongs and is evidently a non-stay,er. Tirhood came from a long way back in the stretch and ran .1 good race. Czar tired near the end after early prominence. Speed Marvel saved much ground when coming into the stretch and was light there at the end. Manchester was "qualifying" and Butler eased him up when turning into the stretch. Louise Macfarlan ran as if stiff and sore during the first three-quarters, but came fast through the stretch. Henry- O. came from a long Avay back in the last quarter. OuardI tired after showing speed. Stroud broke down in the stretch and Bitter Brown, running into him, threw hirrf and fell over him.. The winner, entered for 00, was bid up to ,000 by AA.
