Bess Ward, showing some of her early spring form, broke fast and took a long lead at once, but tired fast in the stretch and just lasted, long .enough. Countess of Melbourne ran "a good race, gained steadily and would have won in a stride or two. Mondella ran well throughout and had no mishaps. Dorothy Ann was always well up and stood the final drive gamely. Geneva S. tired in the stretch run. Ansonla, after going wide most of the way, finished with a rush. Merrick ran as if best, was a forward contender in the early stages, moved into the lead with a rush In the stretch and won cantering. Stoner Hill, away fast, showed the most early speed and stayed well In tins final drive. Copperfield, showing improvement, had to overcome much Interference" in the first half, came fast in the stretch and would have been second in a few more strides. VIperlne bad a rough trip and was gaining in the last quarter. Lightning Conductor tired after going a half and was taken wide most of the trip. Devout ran poorly and was never prominent. Belltoone quit in the last three furlongs. Royal Legend closed a gap and finished fast. The winner was entered for 1907.sh00; no bid. E. showed much the most early speed and seemed badly beaten on the stretch turn, but came again and would have won in a few more strides. My Queeli of the Roses was kept under restraint for the first half and tired when called on sharply in the stretch. Caper, away slowly, ran fairly well. Broken Melody began slowly, but finished fast and closed a big gap. Alegra tired after going three-quarters. Stellaland came fast In the last quarter. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Prince Ahmed broke fast, took the lead at once and, maintaining a fast, steady pace all the way, held the others safe throughout and won easing up. Avaunteer ran Into second place after going a quarter and held that position gamely all the way. Lens, hard ridden all the way, lost some ground on the stretch turn when Shilling took him from the Inner rail. Convolo had no mishaps. Pinkola broke fast and forced or set the pace to the stretch turn, where he repeatedly interfered with Stanley Fay and forced the latter to be taken back, then finished gamely and just lasted long enough to beat Lady .Martha. The latter, shuffled back soon after the start, came with a rush in the last quarter and would have won in a few more strides. Stanley Fay, much the best,, was blocked and interfered with for the entire stretch run and would have won with clear sailing. Albert Star ran poorly and can do much bettef. Ordono had no mishaps and was gaining at the end. Macias showed early speed, but tried to run out after going a half. Scratched 71499 2 Colonel Bob, 110. Horseradish trailed far back in the early running, but finished with a rush and was a game second. Charlie Thompson tired fast after going three-quarters and barely lasted long enough to retain third place. Komoka showed sudden improvement and, coining from a long way back in the last half, would have been third in another stride. King of Troy had a rough trip and was forced to turn wide into the stretch. Savoir Faire held on well for seven furlongs. Henry .0. lacked early speed and ran poorly.
