NOTES OF THE TURF. The bay colt. Bob Callahan, Jr., by Flatlands Lizzie M., by Eolus, has been gelded. Hal Booker will train the horses T. O. Webber will race at Santa Anita. George S. Davis is the best horse in the string. It is said that the Washington Jockey Club will put on a race some day next week for cavalrymen and artillerymen, and the owners to ride in the race. Fred Whitlock, who trained the steeplechasers Barney Schreiber had at Ascot Park last winter, will conduct a public training stable at Santa Anita. Harry Brolaski will not have any horses running for him at Santa Anita Park this winter. He will probably make book at that track during part of the meeting. Trainer Woods Garth, who is handling the Hol-stein filly, Lady Isabel, for Samuel Ross of the Columbia Stable, says he will not start in the Grand Consolation. The filly has not been working very well and there is little likelihood of her returning to lier form of last spring. Fred Littlefield says his colt, Jubilee, needs a rider who is strong enough to hustle him along all the way, for the colt does not care to do. anything he is not made to do. Littiefield has decided to keep him in the barn -whenever he cannot get the services of Notter, McDaniel or LicbertX It is reported that W. V. Conran, former trainer of Kercheval, . will manage the stable of J. G. Thompson, a Goldfield, Nev., mining man, which will ;be raced at .Arcadia this winter. Conran will also race Tollgatherer, .which he owns, at that track, having . entered the Toddlngton colt in a number of stakes.
