Wes, hard ridden all the way, gained steadily from a poor beginning and, wearing Conville down in the closing strides, won drawing out. Pride of Woodstock, outrun for the first three-quarters and going wide into the stretch, finished gamely and was going fast at the end. Conville forced the running in the early stages, moved into the lead at the half and seemed a certain winner in the stretch, but tired unexpectedly. Airship ran fairly well and was prominent for three-quarters. Agile had no mishaps and ran poorlv. Topsy Robinson tired after going a quarter. The winner, entered for 00, was bid up to ,000 and bought by W. S. Hoy. Pete Vinegar, fencing and running to his best form, moved up fast after going one turn of the course, finished resolutely and held Magic safe in the final drive. Magic ran a good race and but for blundering slightly at the fifth hedge, might have won. Itacatiara was a close contender in the early stages, but tired near the end. Sam Hofflieimer showed the way for one turn of the course and fell back. Bob Murphy went well, but tired. Profitable closed a big gap. Dulcian went fairly well. Lajeunesse was prominent from the start and was going gamely at the time of the mishap, but would not have beaten the winner. Infanta ran in close pursuit for a half, but quit badly in the stretch. Yankee Girl came from a lon way back in the last half and is showing steady improvement. Alma Dufour ran a fairly good race Lord f.ovat tired after going three-quarters, but ran away four miles after the finish. Juggler disliked th going. Little Lighter ran poorly and can do much better. Refined got away in a good position and ran a good five furlongs before tiring. Coonev K showed improvement and ran fairly well. Royal Onyx, away poorly, had scant chance and can do better. Gambrinus ran poorly. Rio Grande is best over a longer distance. The winner was entered for ,400- no bid. . Rebonnder, taken wide all the way, made a fast move at the half-mile ground, then tired. Etta M. showed the most speed for three-quarters.- Lady Oakland had no mishaps.
