TAMPA RACING AN EXPERIMENT. New Orleans, La., December 14. The Tampa, Fla., venture seems certain to be tried on the half-mile track of that city and the present intention is to begin the meeting February 5, and race for fifteen days or more, if there Is any patronage to warrant more. The purses are to be 50 and 200 with "five races daily and the Horses are to come from New Orleans. The chances are that Tampas game will attract quite a few horses from the Louisiana merry-go-round if the latter is running at that time. Though there are a good many tourists in Tampa and the towns around Tampa Bay in February, they are hardly racing folks and the meeting is a good deal of an experiment. It will cost a good deal to get horses to Tampa from New Orleans. The meeting is to be held in conjunction with the State Fair of Florida. Harry White, superintendent; E. I. Lawrence, manager and secretary;" Charles Campau, clerk of scales, and James Melton, one of Mars Cassidys assistant starters, will be the officials.
