NOTES OF THE TURF. n. T. Griffin reports the death of the brown yearling colt by The Devil Paola. P. II. McCarren has lost another good two-year-old by death. Gold Quartz, a chestnut gelding, by Golrtfincfi Glenolla, in the McCarren stable, died recently at Santa Anita. Owner McMullen, who was knocked down while attempting to stop the runaway horse Light Note, sustained a compound fracture of the left arm, ds well as being internally injured. J. S. Hawkins probably will not; send Manchester to tho post again at Oakland during the present meeting. .Manchester fell badly lanie in his last race and may not be asked to race again for jslx months. Tho Sausallto, Cal., poolroom, cases are now under advisement by the court and a decision is expected in a few days. The State Supreme Court will eventually be asked to render a decision in the case regardless of the disposition in the lower court, for both sides have anuouueed that they will appeal. W. F. Schulfe will shortly sell at miction hi. entire racing and breeding iuterests. Among the useful ones are Zienap, which won many stakes and purses In the east, and Zicphen, a Winner there also. Mr. Schultes stud is known as the Argyle Farm, and is near Louisville. He has a choice band ot broodmares.
