St. Avon broke slowly, but forged to the front rapidly, held sway through the last half and won going away. Balnade, a superior class youngster in mud, was shullled to the rear in the early running and closed a big gap in the last half into a cyclonic going second. Hand-me-down ran well up throughout and was a game third. Dareington, a slow beginner, trailed in the rear to the stretch and finished with a rush. Husky tired after close and strenuous pursuit of the winner. Bravoure showed superior early ypeed and ran in forward contention to the stretch, then tired and will do better presently. Ocean Shore showed brilliant speed and stamina, disposed of tho fast Prejulclo in the first six .furlongs and drew out in the stretch, but was unprepared for the winners irresistible stretch challenge. Wing Ting, away badly and inadequately ridden, closed an Immense gap. Prejuicio, palpably not keyed up for so long a journey in the - stitT going, tired after seven furlongs of keen contention and made a splendid effort. Northwest, away poorly, closed a big gap Into a fast going and close up fifth. Dollie Dollars was outclassed. Sidney F., nearly left, steadily improved his position. Aoladay was not fit.
