Gene Wood got oft flying, showed the most speed throughout and always held bis opponents safe. Inspector Bird, off forwardly, followed the Winner closely for the first half, then outstayed Velma C. in a sharp last sixteenth drive. The latter ran well, was under the whip all through the final eighth and finished gamely. Buruell ran in improving form. The Belle of May fair showed speed, but was done for when an eighth out. Fastoso had to go around to the outside when turning for home, but came fast through the final furlong and finished resolutely under punishment.
