Sam McGibben drew out early and easily held sway to the end, but was lucky. Colonel Warwick, a good looker and promising, but away poorly, closed a big gap in a fast, but belated, stretch rush. Alta Spa set and forced the early pace, but tired after strenuous efforts to keep up with the leader in the last half and was short. Whiskers, shuffled back early, made up ground. Surety, from a flatfooted start, closed up .well. Bose Eley is palpably short. Lord Filigrane was virtually left. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. , Scratched 72102 Confidence, 115. The Mighty had no mishaps, was rated skillfully and improved ills position. Lustig, badly outpaced all the way, ran a bad race. Bertie A. showed speed for half the journey, as also did Galvestonlau. Billy Pullman, luckily and forwardly placed in the best going, came with a cyclonic rush at the end and just failed to get up. Darelngton, after strenuous forward pursuit of the leader to midway of the stretch; tired badly. Edith R. retired early and her race should be thrown out. Massa was sent along fast from the start, established a small lead on the backstretch and held on gamely to the end. Legatee broke slowly, but steadily improved his position and just failed to get up in a fast stretch effort. Woolma was displaced at the half, but held on forwardly to the end and was a resolute third. Graphite trailed far back for six furlongs, then came witli a fast closing sprint and Is improving. Excitement quit after forward contention for over six furlongs. Colonel White was badly messed about and taken into the worst going and pulling up frequently. Overweights Massa, 4 pounds. Bnto, pulled up at the start, had a rough journey throughout under a bad ride and was a game third. Lassen, away poorly, forged into a long lead on the backstretch and seemed all over the winner in the stretch, but swerved into defeat at the end. Mabel Hollander, from a flatfooted start, -closed an immense gap in the .last half and is improving. Orchan ran a bad race. Duke, of Orleans failed to stay, but showed superior early speed. Dr. Coleman, away poorly, cnuhl never get up, but was an easy third. Mechlin showed brief early speed and quit very badly. Mrs. Matthews showed superior early speed and was short.
