ALEXANDER BREWSTER SUCCEEDS BUSH. Is Elected President of the Crescent City Jockey Club— Winn Still Manager. New Orleans. La.. January 14.— The directors of the Crescent City Jockey Club at their annual meeting today elected Alexander Brewster president. No other changes were made. C. S. Bush, the former president of the club since its origin some fifteen years ago. asked to he relieved of the duties of the office. During Mr. Bush"s long term of office he managed well and built the sport from a very small beginning to the big thing it is now. During the past summer Mr. Browser devoted all of his time to the supervision of the erection of the new grandstand and the remodelling of the plant. His associates wished :o show" their appreciation of his •fforts. hence his election to the office of president ■ if the club. The meeting was attended by C. S. .Bush, P. A. Renaud. L. A. Cella, Alexander Brewster, George . Bennett and J. B. Harrison. A telegram was received from John Condon saying that he would he unable to attend the meeting. He missed his train from Chicago two minutes. C. A. Tilles. another stockholder, was delayed in St. Louis by pressing business. The story which was sent out from here that Mr. Winn would tender his resignation as general manager to the heard of directors proved untrue. Mr. Winn is still general manager, and it is at the earnest solieiation of the directors that he continues to hold that office. Mr. Winn has important baateeaa of his own both at Louisville and New York, which lie is neglecting to help out the local clubs, and it would not be at all surprising if he would ask the association here to relieve him of his duties some time next month.
