. , , e 1 . s i AMERICAN THOROUGHBREDS FOR EUROPE. [ Lexington. Ky.. January 22. — Twenty thoroughbred mares ami geldings purchased for export in and around this city during the past seven or eight days by Scott Hudson, of Atlanta, acting for foreign parties, were shipped yesterday to New York. . From there they will be seut to England and then lie distributed to other European points. The mares are either barren or nave never been bred. It is understood that they are to be used as hunters, for there is not one of them under fifteen and one-half hands, and they are all built to carry weight. Nearly all of them have raced in this , country, but few have won. They are not the sort that are fancied here either for racing or riding purposes, and they were bought at an average of less than 00. Mr. Hudson has an order to supply about 20O more of the same kind if he can procure them, but as bad as they seem for American pur-poaos, they are scarce, for they must measure up to certain standards all around. Even these have not as much breadth in the shoulders as was desired. The list is as follows: Alma Collins, b. m. 8. by Deceiver — Judith. Lady Draper, ch. m. 8. by Macduff — Albertha.
