. i ■ . . I 1 , 1 NOTES OF THE TURF. Harry Stover reports four foals at Kenilworth Stock Farm. They are two colts and two fillies, all by Kenilworth. The fast-breaking, fleet footed Lady Amelia will not race this year. She is now at Holmdel Stud and will be bred to Golden Garter. Thomas L. Higgins. a well-known bookmaker on western tracks for the past thirty years, died at his residence in Oak Park last Friday of pneumonia, W. OB. Maedonough. it is said, has cancelled UM ■ order to sell Carthagena. which he had shipped some time ago to Kentucky, siuce Carmelina won the Oaks at Oakland. The broodmare, Sara T.. by Falsetto — Vendu. by Virgil, owned by William Steele, is dead at Horse Haven Farm. Sara T. was ten years old and in foal to The Bard at the time of her death. Trainer T. McCreery. who will conduct a public stable this year, has shipped the horses he will race at Benuing to that track from Belmont Park. The horses are Greeno, Right and True, Royal Lady and Obert. S. C. Hildreth has a two-year-old full sister to Bravoure. which he says he would not sell for ,000. J. O. Keene says he thought the same way of Bravoure some time ago, but would let her go now for half that amount. E. C. Cowdin has leased the racing qualities of his two-year-old filly. The Pippin, by Ben Strome — Spindrift, and the brown filly, Counterpane, by Sandringham — Homespun, to the Newcastle Stable. They are half sisters to Wave Crest and The Squire. So little did trainer Hoag fancy the chances of Carmelina in the California Oaks that prior to the running of the race he tried hard to buy Marian Casey from John Lowe, offering ,500 for the filly and 00 out of the first money should she win. Lowe declined to sell.
