WALTER MILLER CONTEMPLATES RETIRING. Los Angeles. Cal.. February 10.— Walter Miller, the premier rider, at present riding at Santa Anita Park, deelares that the present year is Die last that he will ride in this country. •T feel." says Miller, that I will have entitled myself to a little rest and enjoyment after thai season, and. as I am growing older, it naturally becomes more difficult to maintain my contract weight. This I can only do by depriving myself of even tlie ordinary luxuries. I feel that I have done my share in the racing game. I can do 10;! pounds, but some times it is with great difficulty. By next year, if I continue to grow as I have been doing lately, it will be hard for me to make this weight. "I do not expect to be a rider all my life. I have been hard at work for the last five years, and have made a sneer Ml id my calling, aud would much prefer to retire before my usefulness is gone. Iu this way I will leave the saddle carryiug with me the respect and good will of the racing public."
