EXTENSIVE IMPROVEMENTS AT FORT ERIE. The new Niagara Jockey Club, which now owns Hie Fort Erie track, will commence improvements on March 1 which will involve an outlay of over OJSvOOO. It is the intention to have the plant en tlrely overhauled before the summer meeting in July and the good news has gone forth from an absolutely definite source that there will be no more syndicate booking, but an absolutely open ring. Furthermore, no owner who makes book will be al lowed to engage in both occupations at the meeting. The work id rebuilding the plant is in the h.m.N ยป of Ijouis Long of Chicago, a man who has ample experience and who has constructed some of the best phmts in the country. New stables will be erected ill place of the shacks of tin- present ami there will be new track kitchens, new fences and practically :i new grandstand, for the present ,,ne will Im- almost entirely rebuilt. A cement floor will lie laid under the grandstand and in the rotunda. and the space in front of the stand will lie as phalted and elevated so as to give all persons a good Tlt-w of the course. New top dressing will be placed on the track and all the buildings will lie given two coats of paint. It is intended to give a summer meeting at Fort Erie on the same high plan, as that maintained at Montreal and Toronto.
