ROSE QUEEN FIRST BUT DISQUALIFIED Crowds Lee Rose and Righteasy Against the Fence and Injures the Latter Seattle Wash June 27 The decision of the Ladies Plate the stake feature of todays card at The Meadows was marred by such foul riding on the part of jockey W Kelly that his mount Itose Queen was disqualified and placed last after she had led Lee Itose and Hlghteasy the other starters to the finish The field was dispatched on even terms but before a sixteenth had been traveled Kelly crowded the others lo the rail and forced them both to pull up Itighteasy suffered most severely and came out of the race with a leg skinned and her stifle injured Lee Rose made up ground gamely but was unequal to the task of overtaking the Hying pacemaker Kelly was indefi ¬ nitely suspended as punishment The disqualifica ¬ tion evoked general approval us the foul was pal ¬ pable and the crowd clamored for action Five favorites won and the twenty books that cut in had daySam a losing day Sam Sunimerfield got in from New York and hung LyonAt up liis slate as did J M Lyon At the behest of representatives of the Pacific Jockey Club Jim Davis a former bookmaker who was ruled off at Oakland several seasons ago and who has been a prominent figure in the betting ring since the opening here last Saturday has been noti ¬ fied lo keep off the track He is a stockholder in the local racing enterprise and it is reported is disposed to resist the attempt to enfore tin ruling against him so far as Seattle is concerned Com ¬ plications may ensue
