GLORIO RUNS A FAST MILE Seattle Wash July 2 W P Fines good colt Olorlo qualified brilliantly for the Derby by defeat lug good allaged opponents today in the fastest mile of the present meeting at The Meadows Be ¬ cause o a general belief that Glorlo was hardly ready for the bruising contest looked for his back ¬ ers were enabled to obtain more liberal odds than the colts California form warranted The proverbial ton of money was burned up on First Peep as favorite in the race and jockey Archibald was sub ¬ jected to sharj criticism for his dilatory tactics He permitted his mount to fall so far behind in the early running that finishing in the money seemed out of tlie question but she finished with electric speed and came close to winning The judges had Archibald on the carpet after the race Archibald rode all four favorites that were beaten today and his showing occasioned general disappointment in each Instance InstanceThe The ring Is finding it so difficult to win that sev ¬ eral of the big bookmakers are talking of quitting The public won again today the ring failing to get any good hreaks hreaksL L A Bonsack is a recent arrival Sam Uildreth it Is learned may make a trip to Europe before coming to the coast
