DEATH OF AUSTRALIAN STEEPLECHASER The death is announced of the Australian thor ¬ oughbred Redleap considered by many to have been the best crosscountry performer ever seen in that country He was a natural stayer and a good jumper while ins trials on the fiat were almost good enough to win a Melbourne Cup His turf career was brilliant but short His feet alwajs gave trouble and he was in consequence a very hard horse to train His first urand National Hurdle i Race was won in 1SSO under the light weight of 134 pounds and his second in 1892 under 166 pounds The Grand National Steeplechase was also taken by him in the latter year with 1S5 pounds up and his Caulfield Grand National victory was accomplished the same year under 194 pounds
