NOTES OF THE TURF. Tlie sale of the Antrim Stock Farm yearlings will be held In the paddock at Oakland Tuesday. November 24. J. H. Dempsey. well known at all racing points, and for years associated with W. E. Applegate. died on Tuesday night at Seattle after a brief illness. The Dufferin Park judges have reinstated jockey Alex. with, a proviso that his absence was highly desirable. The biut led to his prompt departure for Baltimore. R. F. Carman is said to be seeking lo regain possession of Mark Antony II. The horse was very serviceable to him but has won nothiug since passing out of bis possession. Jake Marklein says that Orly. the formerly good racer brought from England to this country by John A. Drake, is pulling a hucksters cart in Cincinnati and appearing in thriving condition. The stud of T. G. Bright was sold at Danville. Ky.. AVednesday. It included thirteen broodmares and the stallion. Ruskin. Tlie mares sold very cheap and one of them was Larkspur, an excellent racer In ber time. John Mackcy predicts that Colin will race soundly In England and make a show of his English relatives. He does not think so well of Ballots chances. Jimmy Rowe is doubtful about Colin standing training, "but is sure he will do great things if he-does. Tomrav Sandy and Bobby Palms, two suspended riders who have been exercising horses at the Emeryville track, were notified that they would not be allowed to do so any longer as a result of Judge Hoppers order to keep all suspended riders off the track. Jockey Coburn. brother of the former well-known rider. "Monk" Coburn. is "alloping horses at Oakland every day and has made a good impression on horsemen there. Including Entre Nous. Belle of Iroquois, Ida May. Miss Officious. Dr. Coleman. Reforniatlon and Herlves. Henry Zieglers Night Rider is now pulling a buggy at Versailles, Ky. This colt was very promising as a yearling but when he went to the post In the first and only race In which lie was started bolted as the barrier went up and was left. Zlegler tried him -out but concluded he would not do. The latest work-outs reported from Oakland show that the track has dried out sufficiently to enable ! i trainers to get faster work out of their horses.
