PHIL CHINNS BIG STRING OF RACERS. P. T. Chinn will have one of the largest stables racing on the coast next winter. Chinns consignment will make up four carloads and will be sent in three divisions. One will leave from Hamilton, Ont., one from Lexington, Ky.. and the other from narrodsburg, Ky. To properly conduct such a large establishment, the Kentucky horseman will have three trainers. W. H. Spence handling those racing at Oakland, Howard Dern looking after the Santa Anita division, while Luther Dickerson will have charge of the yearlings that are to be quartered at Ascot Park. Mr. Chinn has the first call on D. McCarthy, the Canadian boy, who has made such a good record riding for H. B. Duryea. and holds the contract on the promising lightweight jockey. Upton, while at the same time he will have second call on the services of V. Powers. Some good performers will be seen in the Chinn colors next winter, including Pretension, John Carroll, Astronomer. Go Between, Chalfonte. Glenecho. General Haley. Tammany Hall, Little Boy Blue and Ingham in the older division. Among the two-year-olds are such well-known youngsters as Yankee Tourist, J. II. Reed. Joe Gaitcns. J. W. Fyre, Madrileno. Uncle Walter and Hamper, while Chick Ortwein, Selves, Donald McDonald, Piute. Dcs Cognets. Charlie Rothschild and Louis Struber will be heard from later. Twenty-nine unnamed yearlings, two by the famous Ort Wells, conclude what may prove a formidable collection of racers. The yearlings are: Bay Ally, by Alloway Fritzi Scheff.
