SANTA ANITA STAKES TO CLOSE. With the imposing list of stakes offered by the California Jockey Club closed and abundantly filled, there now remains but one similar list to be considered by owners of good horses. There may bo racing at New Orleans and early next year there may be a meeting at Hot Springs, but botli of these possibilities are clouded bv doubt. There is no doubt whatever in connection with the meeting of the Los Angeles Racing Association at the fast and commodious Santa Anita track. That meeting will open on Thanksgiving day and will continue prosperously throughout the winter. The association bas offered horsemen a fine provision of stakes, entries to which will close at midnight of Tuesday. November 10. and the conditions of which appear elsewhere in this issue. It is good business to take advantage of their liberal conditions and owners should be prompt in making engagements there for their horses. It is the only opportunity of the kind that -will be available for a long time and one not to be neglected.
