The pur- chase was in behalf of the Hungarian state breed- iug establishment. The sale Avas well attended by . the leading turfmen of France and the bidding was ; lively. Musette, a fast mare yvben on the turf, brought the best price of any of the broodmares. Fred Burlew giving ,000 for her. He also bought the Bridge water mare. Content. W. K. Vanderbilt bought Candle and Gloriosa and F.dmond Blanc added Grace Gumbert to the big stud presided over by Flying Fox Eugene Leigh got the St. George mare. Disadvantage, for 20 and probably secured a great bargain. If she foals a colt by Adam it is safe to , sav it Avould sell readilv for ten times the price he paid for its dam. Next to Musette. Waterboys dam. Zealandia. brought the most money, going to Charles Oudcy for ,400.
