MUCH ROUGH RIDING AT JACKSONVILLE. Jacksonville, l-la.. March XL — Today brought a Mill further iucrease of attendance at Motureif Park and it now appears as if the patronage will improve right along until the dosing day. S| ecula-tion. too. was brisk and as the Heal people are becoming acquainted with the form of the horses. the belting is increasing. The Imoks have had many a break in their favor since the meeting lie gan. Today Judge Dundon was the only winning favorite and but few of the other winners found much support. The lnst race of the afternoon proved to be the Jive and a half furlongs handicap, which re suited in a head victory for Ray Thompson, which just managed to last long enough to beat out Sally Pre-ton. Ray Thompson was ridden by jockey W. Young and it was his first winning mount since be left Savannah. Than was a lot of rough Tilling during the after-■earn. In the second race Uny. on Bright Hoy crowded his opponents against the inside fence on the turn bate t lie baokstrctch. The interference re sulld in a mix up in which the favorite. Oroonoka. stumbled ami fell and Rose I., which was in behind him. tumbled over him. Fortunately ndthcr riders nor horses wile injured. Guy was suspended lei three days bv the judges and warned that a repoti lion of the offense would reaatt in an indefinite sus pension. In the third race there was another iam. and this time it occurred on the turn into the backstretch At this point Martin cut across from the outside to the iusiih- with Trev of .Spades and collided with Ladv Ethel, which ill turn knocked against Mimic haba and threw her against the fence. The latter struck one of the |H sts witti force enough to shatter her stifle, which means that she is ruined for racing purposes. An effort will be made by her owner to save her. and as soon » r s-lie K in condition to be shipped she will be sent to one of the farms near » Lexington and bred. Minnehaha was a u-eful mare for her owner and was a frequent winner at the recent meeting held in Tampa. C. Brown, the diminutive Jockey, who is the lightest boy riding here, had the mount on two of todays winners. Dr. Young and Miss K. O. B. Young Brown has landed several long shots home in front at the present meeting, ami it appears lie mav develop into a rider of some merit. Coventor Gilchrist was- a visitor at Mom-rcif Park tills afternoon and witnessed the running of a couple of races from the judges stand
