MONTREAL STABLE ROOM FILLED. Montreal. Que.. March 31. — Applications for stalls at Blue Bonnets are being received already by tlie I Montreal Jockey Club and when the various horse men throughout the country have scanned the condi tions of tlie stakes to be decided at Blue Bonnets in June, it is thought that all the available space on the grounds will be taken up. Last autumn there was not a vacant stall to be had, not only on the track proper, but in the village of St. Laurant, ami. in fact, within a radius of two miles of the course all stabling was eagerly snapped up. Those who are alive to the chance of turning a nimble penny could make a big retain on their investments if they should erect stables within a half mile of the track, as tin- indications are that owners of upward of 1 .000 horses will want to take part in the June meet ing. Not more than half this number can be housed comfortably within the grounds. Among tlie latest to send word that he is content with Canadian racing is 6. R. Tompkins, of Warren-ton. Va.. whose steeplechasers. Jimmy Lane. St. Nick and Delcanta. made such a splendid showing last September. The former was nigh invincible and tarried all kinds of weight over the stiff fences to victorv: in fact, few more consistent timber toppers than Jimmy Lane have ever appeared in any country. St. Nick was a puzzle, inasmuch as he always ap peered to have something left at the finish of his races. There will be great expectations of a splendid Btnira-le when the big chestnut five-year-old meets his strongest Canadian rival. Steve Lane, from the stable of Allan Case of Toronto. Marksman for a time gave promise of being Mr. Cases best young jumper, but Stive Lanes performance at Toronto last fall indicated that he- would have to be counted upon bv the Toroiitonian to stay St. Nicks victorious career. Knobhamptoa. Ball.vcnstle and all the other local candidates are big and strong, the latter being ridden all winter as a hack bv his owner. Dr. Ives. Another turfman to apply for stabling during the past few days is William Hogan of Belmont Park, who brings eight good jumpers, among these, in all probability, the champion. Agent, owned bv Rail lett McLennan of this city. J. W. Schorr of Me« phis. Tiiiii . wants twelve stalls for some very smart two -year olds of his own breeding. Mr. Schorr has owned some of the greatest thoroughbred* in the country, and he is not given to become too enthtisi astie. Imt be speaks very highly of the colts and fillies by Silverdale. a horse- hi- raced successfully ten years ago. .1. Cars r New York Citv. who voii many good races with Takaliira. Belle of tlie Ball. Dan de Nodes. Dixie Himniel and others, was so well pleased with Montreal as a racing point that he has asked for twelve stalls.
