A betting coup had been attempted on Mae Henley in her preceding start, hut fractious acting at the post, and a possible dislike for muddy going, brought a bait the miscarrying of the plans of her hackers upon that occasion. She was neglected today. The sudden improvement of Alma Boy was foreshadowed in the betting of the closing race, rinisii-alty strong support devolo| ed for him immediately the prices were posted anil he made good decisively. Warner Oriswcll took second from Menu ill this race. There raw near being a spill on the first turn when the field hunched, hut fortunately none of the horses went down. Entries to the stakes close tomorrow-. Weights for the Brewers Kxchange Handicap, to Ik- run on Thursday next, were posted this after-noon. All the prominent horses in the west are among the seventy-nine eligihles. Berwick and Kings Daughter, both from the McDowell stable, are top weights, with 138 and 127 pounds, respectively, while next in order are Huck and Ilanhriilgc with 118 each. It is doubtful if any of these will he naaabered among the starters. Colloquy, with 113, Mailman 98. Charlie Basliiian 117. Wool Sanda!s 111.
