MONTREAL STAKES FILL SATISFACTORILY. Montreal. Que.. May 0. — The four stakes to be run at ihe spring meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club, cn-nmencinn June 4. have tilled as well as they divl a rear aaja. The Kindergarten Stakes, which is one of the richest events for two-year-olds to he run on the Canadian circuit, shows an entry list well up lo a year ago. which was a record season for the club. For the Jacques Carrier Selling Stakes, some of the best horses that raced at Iimlico. as well as many of those that went to New-York from the south, have been named. Tie Windsor Hotel Stakes has an increased entry over last spring and should prove interesting. The best of the Canadian-owned horses are entered in this event. James McLaughlin, who won it last ■eaaaa with Arondack. has entered that filly again this season, as well as tin- likely three-year-old. Fauntleroy. Should he win it this season, the plate which is a feature of it will become his property. The increased number of steeplechasers iu training this spring is shown by the entry in the Prime of Wales Stakes, which Is through the field, over a distance of two and a half miles. The entry in this is in advance of a year ago. Applications are being received daily from the larger stables that have made the Canadian citcuit their racing territory for the past few years. The Dyment stable has shown a large entrv in the stakes for two-year-olds. Probably the best is a brother to Star Wave, which was purchased as a yearlintr last fall. This colt has shown some fast trials this spring. The track at Dine Bonnets this season will be even faster than it was a year ago. which is din-to the course having been re-dressed late in the fall. The steeplechase course, which was sanded over at the conclusion of the fall meeting, is better than ever before and many local horses are now being schooled over it.
