NOTES OF THE TURF. At the close of the Latonia meeting the Kentucky Derby winner. Donau. will be shipfieri to Canada. It. F. Carmans good three-year-old Billiard Ball pulled up lame after a recent work-out at Belmont Park. By P. J. Dwyers order the Aqueduct track flag has taaa displaved at half mast ever since the death of King Edward. The Delorimier Park meeting will begin next Saturday and continue for the seven days allowed by the new Canadian law. The New York Legislature has passed a bill re pealing the the per cent, state tax on gross receipts of race tracks. The horses of ISartlett McLennan, in charge of William Hogan. will 1m- shipped from Belmont Park to Toronto Wednesday. Jockeys B, Griffin. W. Brannon and M. Henry are attached to the Pons stalile, which has just arrived at Douglas Park from the east. The well-known American jockey. Lucien Lyne. is lying seriou.-ly ill in Brussels, and the doctors fear that he is suffering from appendicitis. John Keagen. superintendent of the Latonia track, predicts that tin- Kenton county course will be faster this season than at any lime iu its history. Harry Stone, who is now a full fledged trainer of steeplechase horses, is giving King Castle useful galloping and schooling through the field at Belmont Park.
