Compared with the majority of Latonia stake races, it is of recent foundation, having first been run in 190.!. Of its last four winners Planute. lHrect and The Fad were disappointments in their subsequent careers, but Chulita trained on and was good edjajigh to win the Latonia Oaks when a three-year-old.
