CHICAGO RACING IS NEAR RESUMPTION OF THE SPORT OVER LOCAL TRACKS BEING PREPARED FOR. Harlem or Worth to Be the Place of the First Meeting in Late July or Early August, Chances Favoring Worth. Chicago is to have some racing again. It has been a long time since local devotees have enjoyed the privilege of viewing their favorite diversion without going abroad. It may now lie announced on the liest of authority that it will not he long until the gallant thoroughbreds will again he displaying their matchless speed and courage over Chicago race tracks It is expected to liegin racing here either in the last week of July or the first week of August, that it to say. just as soon as the necessary preliminaries can be disposed of. The beginning will be either at Harlem or Worth, most probably the latter. These two tracks have been kept in fairly good condition and whichever can the most readily be placed in older for the siRirt will be used first. The racing to start with will be for good purses. If in time public patronage warrants it. liberal advances in the matter of money offered will be made. In view of the experimental nature of the opening meeting, this is as good as could be reasonably expected and should prove eminently satisfactory to turfmen in general. Resumption of racing at Chicago, even though on a modest scale as compared with former days, is an occurrence of profound importance to western tnrf-uieu. That they will gather here again in a spirit of rejoicing may readily be believed. This is a call for them to prepare to come.
