A race of equal importance was the handicap at a mile and twenty yards, in whieb Guy Fisher, winner of the Carter Handicap, easily took the measure of August Belmonts Priscillian. The race represented a marked improvement over Guy Fishers race of a few days ago. when, ridden by A. Lang, the same boy that piloted him today, he was soundly beaten by a cheaper hit. Lang is the rider who was set down indefinitely at Jamestown, and a comparison of his two races on Guy Fisher would suggest that he is heading in the same direction again. It is true that lriscillian was used considerably in making the pace, but he has shown in all his races that he is a front runner, and it was the unnatural improvement of Guy Fisher that was exasperating. The track was deceptive, for while it appeared fast on the surface it was affected a bit by morning laius. and was liest described as good. Novelty, a two-year-old purchased by S. C. Hildreth from J. K. Madden, was a winner at short odds, and Sir Cleges. Hcaucoup and Pickaninny were other winning choices. Pickaninny scored in the selling dash for two-year-olds, and made a show of her company, little Estep. who rode her. hetag busy all the way to make victory certain. The opening dash went to Black Chief, with Jupiter Joe. Hie favorite, —placed. It has been announced that one day of the Saratoga meeting will lie set aside strictly for amateurs. The date has not been decided upon, but the program primuses to lie interesting. J. K. Wainwright is due from Fort Erie tomorrow with nini horses anil J. ». Keene is coming from the same place with four. From Latonia will come J. IS. Respess with fourteen: J. T. Ireland with six: W. C. Lewis with i ight and A. L. Kirby with three.
