It was a stake race in which Hildreth had a number of nominations and had the right up to a certain time prior to the race to withdraw any of them and add any of them. When two horses run a dead heat and it is not run off, the money bet is added together and equally divided between the hacker and layer. Thus. bet on Sir l leges in his dead heat race with Apologize would call for , of which would go to his backer and to the bookmaker. If had been bet on Apologize it would call for 2.50, of which, as iu the other case, each party TO the bet would take half. This covers all queries concerning the dead heat case.
