* r— • i i DESTRUCTION OF STAKE VALUES WROUGHT IN FOUR YEARS 4. . 1 4. : Recently Daily Racing Form published a table showing the falling off hi value of the ten principal stake races of the American tnrf dncc 19o7. To show more conclusively the great damage wrought to the lacing and breeding industry of the Cnited States by hostile and unjustifiable legislation the matter has been pursued farther and a tabic of great significance is here presented. Here is a group of events that iu 1907 yielded 80,082 to the prolit and maintenance of owners and the sustenance of thoroughbred breeding. The decline since then is pitiful. Some stakes usually run in the fall over New York tracks are vet to close. Estimating them at ,000 each and adding 0,000 to the known value of the other stakes of 1910 in this, list will show that the 50,092 of 1!K7 has become 82,534 in 1910. It is a destruction of property wrought by professedly good and honest • people shocking to contemplate.
