HERKIMER was much the best and. after following the pacemaker closely, drew away with a rush at the head of the stretch and won easing up. BARLEYTHORPE ran forwardlv from the start and finished resolutely. COUNTLESS closed a big gap into a game tliird. SHANNON finished fast. DANFIELD quit badly after setting the pace to the head of the stretch. MEXOANA ran disappointingly. Scratched— 91415Woolcasta. 93; 91256 Sam Weller, 90. Overweights — Mexoana. 1 pound. HYLDA fenced well and ran a good race and, after racing JESUIT into defeat, came away very easily at the end. PRINCE HAMPTON jumped and ran to his best form, but almost lost second place when eased up in the stretch. TICKET OF LEAVE finished gamely through a long drive. JESCIT went well for two miles, but tired badly near the end. BYZANTINE ran a bad race that should be thrown out. The winner was en-tered for .000: no bid. NOVELTY beat the barrier, but was reserved behind IRON MASK to the stretch turn, then came 011 with a rush and won going away. IRON MASK went into the lead with a rush and drew out into a long lead, but tired badly in the final drive. NAP8HON, always prominent in the running, finished fast and would have been second in another stride. TEXTILE ran his race. SIR JOHN JOHNSON showed great speed and. setting a fast pace, led throughout, but tired and just lasted long enough after having swerved out in the stretch and carried DANOSCARA out. The latter ran a good, game race and finished fast and gaining slowly. OLAMBALA, after trailing early, moved up into forward contention, but was pinched off on the turn and tired in the stretch racing. DALMATIAN ran forwardlv to the stretch, but tired and swerved all over the track in the last furlong. A claim of foul was made against the winner in behalf of DANOSCARA, but not. allowed.
