FILLER SCORES A DOUBLE TEXAS TURFMAN CONTINUES TO FIGURE IMPORTANTLY IN WINDSOR RESULTS. Nettie Marchmont and Toy Boy Carry Texans Colors to Victory — Messenger Boy Wins Edenwold Handicap. Fuller, the Texas tarlmaa, who lias been playing an inijxirtant B«1 in the Windsor meeting, added to his list of local victories this afternoon by scoring a double with liis promising two-year-old till v . Nettie Mareb-tiiout. a mi his fast sjiriuter, Toy Boy. Both horses had their work cut out to win, each being forced to stand a bud streteh drive. Toy Boy was favorite for his race and Nettie Marchmont was a well-backed second choice. The turfmen from the ! ne Star State who are gathered here this fall made their preface felt in the ring in both instances. A majority of the finishes were close enough to be interesting and while the fields lacked quality, still they were of the evenly matched variety, which insured Rood contests. Light Wool. Judge Lansing and Malitine. all of which were outsiders in their laces, were among those that scored. The Edenwold Handicap, named for Walter O. Partners farm near Nashville. Teiin.. and the feature race of the program, found Messenger Boy the winner. This event was marked by keen inecnla-lion, several of the starters having an extensive following. .Messenger Boy, well ridden, beat Bail News 11. a length. The latter showed a lot of early speed this afternoon, something that he lacked ill previous efforts. Mortimer Mahoney received word from the Montreal Jockey Club that he had been selected as manager of the ring at Blue Bonnets this fall. Mr. Mahoney succeeds .1. G. Cavanagh and the ring will be open to all reputable bookmakers. It is understood that Fred W. Gerhardy, who will act as racing secretary at Marlboro and Norfolk, has la-en ollcred the position of clerk of the scales at Jacksonville. Jockeys Deverich and Beavenport were suspended By the starter yesterday for three days. Among the arrivals today were Sig Levy and William OBrien, two will h—WS Chicago bookmakers. .loekevs .1. The latter Is due here tomorrow ami will join the ranks of the layers on arrival. Joseph McLennan received an offer from C. C. Campau. who has charge of the racing at Hawthorne Park. Chicago, to serve as racing secretary during the contemplated meeting at that point. On account of previous engagements with Canadian associations Mr. McLennan was forced to decline the offer. In the absence of definite information regarding those who are backing the venture and the lack of assurances that six days racing will he given, many of the horsemen who had announced their intention of shipping hare changed their plans and will instead go from here to Lexington or Montreal. Jr.. got the better of his exercise lad this morning and. running away, fell and injured his shoulder so badly as to necessitate an enforced retirement for a couple of months.
