LOUISVILLE STAKES FILL EXCELLENTLY. Entry List of Large Proportions and Exceptional Brilliancy Is Already Assured. Louisville, Ky., September 1. — At noon today 400 entries had been received by Secretary Lyman 1L Davis for the ten stakes to be run during the coining fall meeting at Churchill Downs, beginning October 1. These events closed for entry at midnight of Wednesday. August 31, and delayed mails are sure to increase the total now in, hut even as it stands at present there is an average of forty entries to each stake. Probably no western association, save in the days when Washington iark, Chicago, was in the zenith of its fame, ever had as brilliant an array of noted horses engaged in a series of stakes as the Now Louisville Jockey Club will have this fall. Prominent among the numlier already received are Lowe-Nat, which ran third in the Futurity. Woodford Clays great tilly Ocean Bound and such other well-known racers as Al Mullet", Ben Double. The ten stakes that had the following number of entries up to twelve oclock today were: St. Leger Handicap. 31; Frank Fdir Handicap, 45; Iroquois Handicap. 4.".: Falls City Handicap. 40; South Louisville Handicap. 4.!: Shawnee Selling Stakes. 36; Cherokee Selling Stakes. 411: Maple Selling Stakes. 34; Autumn Stakes. 85; Golden Rod Selling Stakes. M. J. T. Williams, trainer of the sensational gelding. Coventor Cray, nominated him in the Autumn Stakes for two-year-olds and also in the Iroquois and South Louisville Handicap for all ages. The former race is a dasli of a mile.
