August 4 ami came to a close August 31, embraced twenty-four rat-ins days and entailed the distribution of 63,310 in stakes ami purses. In the latter respect Saratosa easily holds lirst place anions American Hit tints of l.HO, the daily average distribution being far and away iu excess of any other so far held or tu he held. In fact, the Saratosa meeting was* conducted along lines that differed little from the meetings riven there in the more prosperous days of the New York turf. As a natural result, the meeting was a glorious success and in keeping with the best traditions of the American turf. S. . llihlreth. who heads the list of money-winning owners, added the princely stun of |8g,380 to his staid.- earnings during the meeting, while his nearest competitor. It. T. Wilson.
