HILDRETH CRACKS COMING NOVELTY, FITZ HERBERT AND OTHER CELEBRITIES TO RACE IN KENTUCKY. Stars of Leading Stable of American Turf Nominated for Stakes to Be Decided at Churchill Downs the Coming Month. Louisville. Ky., September 2. — Far beyond expec-lations were the delayed entries from Saratosa and other iH.ints to the stakes of the New Louisville Jockey Crab for the coming fall meetins. which be* sins October 1. Last night and today 174 entries were received, niakins a sraml total of 574 entries to the ten stakes. Seventeen came for the St. Lcgcr Handicap, makins tin- entries in that event now number forty-eight; fourteen were added to the Frank Fehl Handicap, which now totals lifty-nine: Bfteen to the Iroquois Handicap, inakins a total of sixty: fourteen to the Kails City Handicap, which now totals tifty-four; sixteen to the South Louisville Handicap, bringing it up to lifty-nine: twenty to the Shawnee Stakes, making its total fifty-six; twenty-tive to the Cherokee Stakes, hrinsins it up to sixty-live; sixteen to the Maple Stakes, hrinsins it up to 50; seventeen to the Autumn Stakes, inakins its total fifty-two. and twenty to the Golden Bod Stakes, inakins its total seventy-one, the larsest numlier of any. Forty-two entries came today from the stable of S. C. llihlreth. The horses entered include the Futurity winner. Novelty, which Mr. llihlreth has lint iu both the Autumn Stakes and the South Louisville Handicap. I-itz Herbert is entered for the St. Leger, Frank Fehr. Manaser Winn is expected here Sunday from Saratosa. He stopped off a day or two in New York City for a consultation with James Rutler, who is interested in tin- Juarez track in Mexico. Harden also has six yearlinss which he will puce in trebling at the close of the local racing season. John Sheridan is coniins from Windsor to Churchill Downs witli Smfraa. Mr. Sheridan is in the market to buy another sxxl racer. M, C. Moore, who owns Dahomey Iark. at Dayton. Ohio, and who is a newcomer in the racing same, has iUgagcd three stalls at Churchill Downs for the fall meetins. Thomas W. Flynn. in a letter to Secretary Davis, says that his nine racers, which have boon restins at Harlem, awaiting the fall meeting at Churchill Downs, are iu excellent condition. Barney Schreiber, writing from Woodlands Farm at Bridgeton. Mo., savs that he will bring twenty sood horses to the fall meeting at the Downs. lie is enthusiastic over the racing prospects at Lexins-ton, Louisville and Latonia. M. F. Mattinsly. of Owenslioro. will ship three horses to Churchill Downs this week. W. S. House will ship from Saratosa to Chun hill Downs four racers, John GatTney writes from Nashville that his strins lo be raced at Churchill Downs this fall will consist ,01 right horses, nearly all of which have been entered hi the stakes. W. 1.. Lewis will ship his stable from Saratoga to Lejclngtou, and from the Kentucky Association track to Churchill Downs. Frank Itson, in a letter dated at Montreal and Belli reused to Secretary Davis, says that in Jim Rradv and Sanguine he has fair horses with which he expects to win several races at the Downs and at Juarez during the 100-days meetins which will open there on Thanksgiving Day.
