Ky., September 29. — The Kentucky Associations fall meeting of nine days ended this afternoon. It was a pronounced success in every department, in a word by far the best ever helil here at this season of the year. Not withstanding :!; • fact that two days of wet weather were encountered, the attendance was uniformly good, the hit ting was brisk throughout and the racing of a high order and clean. There was not a foul, virtually no rough riding am! no occasion for disciplinary measures from the judges stand save the first day. when two lads were suspended for four days for striking each other with their whips. The-starter put some half-dozen riders under short suspensions for disobedience at the post, but he as JCSScd no tines. There was not a run-up during the meeting and no complaint about this or that man attempting to run a good home too cheaply. There was no apparent use of drugs and no scandal of any kind. Captain Thomas .1. Clav. who served as the presiding judge. William II. Shelley, who tilled the otfice of racing secretary and bnndlennper, and Mars Cassidy, who did the starting, have received many well -deserved congratulations on their work and that of their assistants in the minor positions. The action in tlie betting ring under the direction of Kugene Klrod was entirely satisfactory to the public and the association alike. This was a model meeting and the association has found in it much encouragement for the future. It has demonstratiNl that Lexington, under proper conditions, will supiHirt a nnvting in the fall, anil another year there is not apt to lie any question as to Whether or not one will be given. The attendance this afternoon was over 3.000. ami the amount of money handled through the Miri-mutuel machines exceeded that of any other day of the meeting, and was not far short of the heat duy here in the spring, when 7,000 was wagered In the machines. Tlie weather today was perfect, the track fast and the racing interesting, though not profitable to the backers of favorites, since the majority were bowled over. The feature of the card was the Lexington Brewing Company Selling Shakes for thni -vear-nlds and upward, at one mile and twenty vards. with a net value of 9888 to the winner. It had seven starters, of which the public selected Intrinsic as lirst choice in th auction pooling and Norbitt as tirst choice in tlie snntaei machines. The result WM a surprise. A. Webers Hans, piloted by Roseoo loose, went to the front in the lirst few strides, closely attended by Intrinsic and Buck and the order was never changed. Hans winning easily by three lengths in 1:40». representing a new track record, one-fifth of a second lietter than the record set by W. A. Leach in the race last .May that caused him to be put under the ban and the license of John Marklein to be revoked. Emperor William, coining from far back to defeat Royal Captive and Selwik in a driving finish in the third race, was the only favorite to win this afternoon. Billy Bodenier was the choice for the opening race, but Toison dOr led all the wav and outlasted him. Mindinette and Any Port became tangled in the barrier at the start of the second race and were virtually out of it. Bettie Sue went to the front in the lirst few strides, outrun Hectagon at every stage and beat him to the finish by three lengths. Henry Walbank. coining out of the bunch at the head of the stretch, wore down ft nil ill SIMS I and boat him a nose on the post for the fifth race, with Cisko. the favorite, a length back. Cisko was slow to get in motion, hail to work his way around on the outside and closed a big gap. Nearly all of the eastern turf followers and a good number of owners, trainers and Jockeys departed tonight for Louisville on the Klrod social. All the betting paraphernalia used at the track was also sent on the train. Fred Luzader resumed the training todav of Spooner. Dr. Waldo Briggs and Bonton. These horses have been turned out since the Louisville spring meeting.
