COMP-TOX, off fonvardly, was rated along with SHAWNEE to the stretch turn, where he drew away into an easy lead and had speed in reserve when G. M. MILLER challenged at the furlong post. G. M. MILLER saved ground on the far turn and made a game effort in the homestretch, but the winner always held him safe. BEDM1NSTER was well up in close nursuit of the pacemakers throughout. JUDGE MASSING dropped out of contention early. SHAWNEE set the pace to the stretch and tired. DON ANTONIO was worked out another mile after the race in 1:57. The winner was entered for ,000: no bid. BRIDE LANE began well and, after having raced PLACERLAND into defeat in the first half, drew away in the Inst furlong. PLACEBLAND ran well, but was on the outside of the winner all the way and tired when punished. TARTAR GIRL closed a gap in the last quarter and was gaining on the leaders at the end. LIVE" WIRE was in a jam on the first turn and was pulled up. ADALIA was jumped on and, breaking her leg, was destroyed. MONTCLAIR set the pace to the stretch and quit.
