Gossip Louisville Ky October 17 Todays handicap at threequarters at Churchill Downs resulted In a sen ¬ sational finish of four T Af Green Royal Captive Alelisande and Glorlo terminating a glorious struggle noses apart The desperate duel that the quartet engaged in during the final furlong brought the big throng of spectators to their feet in a frenzy of ex ¬ citement with ringing cheers of encouragement to their respective favorites Aside from the hard fought contest the race resulted in disappointment owing to the failure of Alelisande to repeat her Tlc tory of Saturday The additional five pounds that she had to pick up as a consequence of Saturdays victory was probably a potent factor Ire bringing about her defeat this afternoon By his performance this afternoon T Af Green showed a return to his best form and the haudicappcr will have him to reckon with in future starts Royal Captive but for losing considerable ground by being taken wide might have won and Giorio forgetting to sulk Wits going strongest near the end with every prospect of proving the victor had the distance been a bit longer longerThe The other races were made up of the cheaper racing material h these parts was cut down in the Clip setta Stakes at Latonia last summer and at the time it was feared she would have to be destroyed Captain Viley will not allow her to l c trained again until next summer and will not think of asking her to race in the spring so she is out of the Kcntuckr Oaks for 1911 1911T T P Hayes was here recently coming from Lexington where his stable is still quartered as he has been busy since the meeting closed there break ¬ ing fourteen yearlings that he now has in his barn He will likely take three or four horses to Latonia to race and will land at one of the winter tracks with his entire stable His crack colt Oracle is still running out and he may not take up the sou of Delhi until winter sets in He is going to pre ¬ pare him for the big stakes of next spring and sum ¬ mer and as a consequence will race him but little during the coming winter winterW W T Anderson has received a letter from Lex ¬ ington asking him to put a price on his threevear old filly
