INNOVATIONS FOR JACKSONVILLE Louisville Ky October 17 H D Brown general manager of Moucrelf Park Jacksonville Fla ar ¬ rived here yesterday to confer with F J Pons rela ¬ tive to plans for the 100days winter meeting Ac ¬ cording to Mr Brown It is the intention of the Jacksonville management to introduce innovations this winter in the conduct of the sport One of the fea ¬ tures embraces the appointment of it prominent offi ¬ cial probably an easterner to serve as steward His appointment will be made by the Jacksonville track management and associated with him will be two others their appointments to lie made by horsemen whose horses are engaged in the racing Dr Keough will again be offered the position of paddock judge and veterinarian veterinarianAnother Another departure that will be tried at Jackson ville Is the making of each owner responsible for the weights his horse has to carry in the race This will be done with the aid of a system providing that after a rider pusses the scales presided over b the weighing clerk and the weight is found correct the owner will have to assume sponsorship and jf will be compulsory on his part to reweigh his rider on a scale that will lie placed in the paddock The weight in all cases will have to be tested properlv by tin owner before he can saddle his horse Mr Brown also hits in contemplation other innovations for the coming meeting and will disclose them later He is enthusiastic over the prospects for tills season in Florida FloridaMr Mr Brown has just returned from an extended trip which embraced visits to Panama Buenos Ayrrs Kio do Janeiro and other South American points besides Franco Germany and England
