OAKLAND INVESTIGATION HARMLESS. San Francisco, Cal., January 5. Favorites fared well at Oakland today and the layers were hard hit. Following tbe running of the second race jockeys 5. Archibald and E. .Martin engaged in an altercation in the paddock and the stewards will consider the matter tomorrow. Archibald, riding Pete, was making his run on the stretch turn when his mount was bumped and knocked to his kness. The rider held Martin, on Aunt Polly, responsible and struck him. on the way to the jockey room. They were separated before any damage "was done. Anion showed to be a high-class colt by cantering home winner of the two-year-old race. Feather "Duster and Crex fought it out in the- last race, the first named winning hy a head.
