DESCOMNETS TAXES STAKE MONTE PRESTONS CONSISTENT PLATER BEATS JACK PARKER IN FEATURE. Stewards Show More Leniency Than Judges in Deal- ing with Case of Jockey J. Deavenport Two Run-Ups Follow Selling Races. . Jacksonville, Fla., January 25. Former jockey Monte Preston furnished the winner in todays feature ure race at .Moncrief Park, the Tallahassee Selling Stakes, in his consistent plater, Descomnets, which overcame much early interference and won impressively by a length from Jack Parker. The latter made the pace until well into the homestretch, but faltered alter going seven-eighths. The mile was run in 1:303. In the third: race, a six and a half furlongs dash, for three-year-olds, the Beverwyck Stable showed their good Kingston colt. Special "Brew, for the first time this season. The colt attracted marked atten-i tion in his paddock parade. He showed a flash of early speed, but was not persevered with, and la evidently not within a couple of weeks of his best effort. Jockey Bell today had his first mount since his accident while riding Bad News II. several weeks ago. lie rode Ramazan and, on his way to the post, was greeted with cheers. Rose of .Teddah, a handsome bnt nndersized daughter of Cesarion, added another to her list of victories by winning the two-year-old race in a canter. The three-eighths were run in 35. representing a new track record for the distance. Rose o Jeddali led all the way and was under a pull at the end. Two of the afternoons winners were boosted. After Ed Keck won the second race, Guy Grav ran him up .::0 and secured him for 1911.sh00. S. A. Ciopton, whose Ida D. won the fifth, was forced to stand an. advance of 05 to retain his mare. Several parties were . responsible for this runup, among them W. G. King-Dodds and Dave Woodford. Robert Levy, promoter- of the race meeting nt Jamestown, was a visitor at Moncrief this afternoon. Ho came from Texas this morning and stopped pit here for a few days. He expects Mortimer Ma-honey to join him here and the pair will proceed to Virginia. Mr. Levy reports many applications already in for stabling at Jamestown and that the outlook is that about COO horses will be available for the racing. A letter from John E. Madden to the local stewards was posted in the paddock which warned owners from harlioriiig the lad .1. Csabynyok. sometimes known as John Osborne. The latter left Mr. Mad- dens employment a few weeks ago. Guy Gray claimed Merman out of the sixth race yesterday, paying 25 for him. S. A. Ciopton announced this afternoon that he would dispose of ids string of race horses before the close of . the present meeting. The stewards sustained the appeal of jockey J. Deavenport over the ruling of the judges, who had set the lioy down indefinitely. The stewards set his suspension to last only until March 1, there being a reasonable doubt in their minds as to intent. Recent work-outs at .Moncrief. Weather clear; track fast. Agnar Mijc in 1:47.
