LORD PROVOST went into the lead quickly and set the pace to the stretch, but tired and gave way when challenged by the winner. MINNEDOCIA closed a big gap and almost got up for second place in a fast finish. II.KX ran forwardly and gamely, but tired in the linal drive. PLUVIOUS finished well, but was never dangerous. ROYAL STONE, SINN FEINN and CLARA W. all -showed speed, but failed to stay. Overweights Pluvious, 1 pound; Sinn Feinn. 4. HAMPASS showed surprising speed in pacemaking to the final furlong and held on gamely in the decisive drive. GRETCIIEN G. was a prominent contender from the .start and made a resolute finish. ONATASSA closed a great gap into a close up fourth. MISS OFFICIOUS also made up much ground. PAUL CLIFFORD and ZOROASTER quit after running prominently to the stretch.
