RACE-GOERS SHOW NO FEAR. Customary Crowd Patronizes Juarez Races Despite Reports of Insurrectionists Nearby. El Paso. Tex., February 2. Despite rumors to the effect that the insurgent forces were encamped but a few miles from the race track and would attempt to capture the city of Juarez during the afternoon, the usual Thursday crowd turned out to witness the running of an attractive card, which had as a fcaturo the San Luis Potosi Stakes for two-year-olds and as a secondary feature an allowance race for three-year-olds, among which there were several Derby eligibies. Upright, from the stable of George Odoni, ruled favorite for the stake race and. although asked to concede considerable, weight to his opponents, was considered to be a certain winner, lie ran a grand race and but for being unfortunate during the -running, lieing carried wide while coming out of the chute by John Robert, possibly would have won. Jockey Guy Garner, accompanied by his employer. Karl Linncll, arrived today from San Francisco. The horses that Mr. Linnell will train hero including Black Mate. Big Stick and Setback, are expected to arrive tonight. Edwin Gaylord, who purchased the Linnell stable, will reach here Saturday.
