WELL BACKED WINNERS AT OAKLAND. San Francisco. Cal.. February 2. Well backed horses were to the front at Oakland today and the layers had a rather disastrous session. There was a plunge on Presumption, from the McMauus stable, in the two-year-old daslu Archibald got biin away Hying and he won easily from Bey and Ma Mie. Heretic found the third to be a soft spot and bad no trouble lieating Sake and Ocean View. Klrsch-baum landed the heavily-supported Lescar the winner of the lirst. Starter Holtinan suspended jockey Kirselibauni for four days for misbehavior at the post in the lirst race. Bubbling Water is to be given an opportunity to win recognition on the metropolitan tracks of the east. Molera and Josephs have decided to send the crack western mare on an extensive campaign this summer which will take her to New York and maybe to England and France. It will be. the- California-bred mares first campaign away from home tracks and her performances will bo watched with keen interest by local race-goers. Bubbling Water is truly the queen of the western turf. AH season she has been meeting the best horses at Oakland track and, although giving away much weight in each start, has made a creditable .shoeing, winning--rages ranging in distances from five "and u half furlongs to a mile and an eighth over all kinds of tracks. She is a strapping brown mare, by Colonel Wheeler Shasta Water, and is a beautiful specimen ot the thoroughbred. Bubbling Water was bred at the Burns and Water-house breeding farm and is live years old. Molera and Joseph secured her as a year ling at a bargain price. A. J. Molera. the senior member of the firm, will not go east with his favorite racer, as business interests will detain him here. A. Joseph, the other memlier. intends to accompany the mare if she goes to Europe. It is the plan of Molera and Joseph to mate Bubbling Water" with some English stallion if she goes abroad. Trainer Al Farrell will accompany Bubbling Water on her travels. Bubbling Water has been assigned top weight of 125 pounds for the Follansbee Handicap, at a mile and an eighth, to be run Saturday. Arasee is asked to carry 119 pounds, and Chester Krum is in with 118. Eddie Dale has been allotted !0 iKuuds. Richard Dwyer will preside, at the barrier next Monday and will send the fields away for the rest of the meeting.
