NOTES OF THE TURF. F. J. Pons is to have a weediug-ont sale of his horses at Monerief shortly. The intimation comes from California that the Walker-Young bill, approved by Governor Johnson on Tuesday, will be duly tested in the courts of the Golden State as to constitutionality. Henry Unriih, administrator of the estate of the late E. J. Baldwin, has disposed of about 200 of the ."iOO thoroughbreds owned by the California turfman at the time of his death. Tim stallion Key el Santa Anita, an American Derby winner, is valued at 50 in an inventory of the estate recently filed. lookers V. Powers, W. Kuapp and F. Herbert, who will soon go to Europe to ride, will supplant Willie Shaw. Walter Miller and James Sumter as the riders of horses trained by James McCormiek. Shaw and Sumter will return to Germany to fill other engagements, but Miller, who has grown too heavy to remain in the saddle, intends to stay in this country and go into business. Mr. McCormiek is enthusiastic over racing in Germany and says that lie will operate there permanently.
