INSURRECTION INTERRUPTS RACING. Expected Attack on Juarez Leads to Postponement of Races at Mexican Course. El Paso, Tex., February 3. Col. Matt Winn, general manager of the Jockey Club Juarez, declared off todays racing program at Terrazas Park, in view of an expected attack on Juarez by Mexican Insurgents. Several of the most prominent American owners decided last night to temporarily transfer their horses to quarters in El Paso, pending developments, for fear that the insurrectos might attempt a raid on the valuable horses quartered at the Juarez traek. .Manager Winns action was taken on tlie advice of United States Consul Edwards of Juarez. Colonel Winn gave out the following statement concerning tlie temporary closing: Mr. Edwards, the United States consul at Juarez, advises us that it would be best to postpone the races scheduled for this afternoon. He has informed me that while lie has no positive information that an attack will be made on Juarez today, he feels it will be best for United States citizens to remain on tlie American side of tlie river for the next twenty-four- hours and that he officially advises them to this effect. Under the circumstances we deem it best to accept his advice and the track gates, will be closed today, but racing will 1e resumed on Saturday if conditions warrant it." Entri.es for today were declared off and new entries were made for tomorrow.
