NOTES OF THE TURF. The sale of Tom iMe-Grath left G. P. Brazier without any horses and he lias left Juarez for his home at Memphis. J. C. Courtney, formerly a trainer of thoroughbreds on the metropolitan tracks, committed suicide in New York yesterday. The leading amateur rider in Hungary will in future annually receive from the Hungarian Gentlemen Riders Union a gold medal In commemoration of his success. The Queensland Australia Turf Club authorities intend knowing what jockeys are constant in riding work. Those who put in an appearance on the track have to sigh their names each morning. "Snapper" Garrison remarked after Sandhills victory at Jacksonville Thursday: "Sandhill is the best colt in a race here over a long route. His nearest rival is Via Oclavla, a stable mate. James Fitzsimnions, who liought these colts from August Belmont lust fall, holds the winning hand for tlie American Derby, in my opinion."
