The lirst race for the fifty guineas donated by King George V. for the encouragement of the breed of horses In Ontario will be run at Woodbine on Saturday, .May J0, the opening day of the Ontario Jockey Clubs spring meeting. Though Ills late Majesty King Edward VI I. died before the running of last years race, provision had previously been made for the grant. King George lias been graciously pleased to continue the subscription instituted more than half a century ago by Queen Victoria. Entries will close March 1. On the same date will also close the Breeders aud Maple Leaf Stakes, to be run next year, and the Stanley Produce Stakes, to be run in 1014.
