CANADIAN STAKE CONDITIONS ANNOUNCED. Toronto. Out., February 14. The lirst race for the fifty guineas donated by King George V. for the encouragement of the breed of horses In Ontario will be run at Woodbine on Saturday, .May J0, the opening day of the Ontario Jockey Clubs spring meeting. Though Ills late Majesty King Edward VI I. died before the running of last years race, provision had previously been made for the grant. King George lias been graciously pleased to continue the subscription instituted more than half a century ago by Queen Victoria. Entries will close March 1. On the same date will also close the Breeders aud Maple Leaf Stakes, to be run next year, and the Stanley Produce Stakes, to be run in 1014. The conditions of these events are: The Kings Plate the oldest fixture run continuously on this continent ,250 added: estimated value ,000; .10 guineas, the gift of his Majesty King George, with ,000 added by the club: the lirst horse to receive the Guineas Stakes aud ,750; the second horse 00 and the third 00; the breeder of the winner to receive 50: a sweepstakes of payable at time of entry. additional, unless declared out by May 1, and 3 additional for starters: for three-year-olds and upwards, owned, foaled, raised aud trained in the Province of Ontario, that have never won a race, either on the flat or across country, have never left Canada, and have never been for a .period of more than one month out of this province: death of nominator docs not render entry void: one mile aud a quarter: a piece of plate w.ilt be. presented by the club to the winner: declarations Monday.
